Shelley Mitchell
Shelley Mitchell has been working as a professional artist for over thirty years. Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, she now divides her time between studios in Lunenburg, NS, and the island of Bequia, SVG (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines). A great deal of her work involves marine subjects and the nature of life by the ocean; her paintings can be found in many collections in Canada, the USA, and Europe.
"Art is not always a strictly aesthetic process; it is a means of imposing form on our thoughts and experience so that we can recognize what moves us. I render the space and objects around me to give meaning and value to them and as a meditation. The resulting paintings embody serenity and balance and an escape into a tranquil moment."
